Want to know more about us?
Welcome to our web site. We are Birgit and Horst;
54 and 52years young and we live in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast
in Beautiful British Columbia with our four children and two dogs.
Both our dogs are Alaskan Malamute mixes, which come from the
SPCA. Jerome, our boy, is 9 years old and Beeley, our girl is
6 years old. Jerome is a real couch potato, and Beeley is very
energetic and active girl.
Horst and I have been taking the SomaLife
gHP for years and it gives us more energy and strength and
improves our overall health. Because it works so well with us,
we decided a while ago to start feeding it to Jerome, because
he was getting a bit listless and lazy. There is now an incredible
difference in his behavior. He is more interested in walks and
play and has overall become a more energetic and active dog. His
mischievous level went up a few notches as well.
Beeley and Jerome love to hang out on the couch together and
food and treats are always welcome.

For those of
you who want to know more about our dogs...
Jerome (aka Schlawuffel, silly boy, couch potato, Malamule
and many more):
Jerome came to us 6 years ago from the SPCA, as a special needs
dog. He had been chained up for all of his life and been treated
very badly. He was scared and shy and did not know a thing about
how to behave as a proper dog. Even though he always had a very
loving personality, in the beginning he only felt safe in his
kennel. He still loves to go in his kennel for a nap and we have
two kennels for him where he can go and relax. He did not know
how to cuddle, but he learned that quickly and now, he comes for
hugs and kisses and he is the friendliest fellow you can imagine.
We were told that he is a Malamute mix with some wolf in him.
I do not know about the wolf, even though his canines are very
big and so are his paws, built to walk on snow. Because he is
so laid back Beeley sometimes tries to dominate in their relationship
and usually she gets away with bossing him around, however when
she is too annoying he can get quite upset and corrects her vocally.
As with all Mals, he has selective hearing when you call him but
he responds VERY WELL to food. He loves treats and we trained
him with them. Unfortunately, we cannot let him off leash because
he will wander off and get lost (or find something very dead to
roll in). He hates getting a bath and it is always a family effort
to administer one. He is something of an escape artist and if
he sets his mind to it, he can get out of a normal collar or even
a harness in a second. He does not like to swim and to get his
feet wet is wet enough for this boy.
Beeley (aka sweetie, baby girl, saus (short for the
German words "Suesse Maus" which means sweet mouse)):
We got her when she was only 2 years old and she was suffering
from separation anxiety. She must have had some bad encounters
with a cat because of some nasty scars on her hindquarter. It
took her a long time to trust everybody in the family especially
the male part of it. Her love is devoted to Mom who she follows
around and she is happiest when she can lie at her feet. Being
part Doberman and part Malamute the two complete opposite dog
personalities are sometimes a challenge for her. On the one hand,
she is a guard dog taking her duty very seriously, while on the
other hand she has the friendliness of a mal towards all and everybody.
She compromises by barking and making a big fuss, then when we
are ok with the people she will be hiding behind Mom growling
for a bit to make sure everybody understands that she is on duty.
Overall, she is friendly and would never bite, but she is not
a dog that trusts easy. It took our son in law quite a while to
gain it. We can let her off-leash because she obeys instantly
when called. Jerome does not mind her being off-leash and he is
on as long as he can sniff and investigate. She loves to swim
and run, run, run. Living on the Ocean, we can let her swim often
and she wags her tail while swimming (looks really funny). She
does not like to take a bath but will not object and sits nicely
until the bath is finished.
Both our dogs love car rides and they sit nicely secured in the
back of our truck. No matter where the drive goes, they are happy
as long as they can come along. Our dogs are part of our family
and we cannot imagine being without them.
