Here’s a post that celebrates Garfield, that famous cartoon feline, on the occasion of his 36th birthday last month!
Happy birthday, Garfield!
Mojo is our clinic cat, and we consider him an essential part of the social life of the clinic. He is a 9 year old, male neutered, grey domestic short haired cat.
Mojo was surrendered to us as a young cat. He was neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and made himself at home.
He is good with other cats and dogs, and takes a great interest in the kittens that we foster here from time to time. He grooms them, plays with them and teaches them manners.
Mojo has had some health issues along the way. He has a sensitive GI tract, and is on a prescription diet which prevents diarrhea. He also is on year-round flea and intestinal parasite prevention, due to his high risk of exposure here. Mojo has had his teeth cleaned four times in his years with us. Take a look at those pearly-whites!
He had a problem with an itchy ear on and off, and occasionally we would see a few drops of blood when he shook his head. He also had developed a lump on his side. The ear lump was removed and the side lump biopsied by Dr. DeMille. Results of the biopsies were a relief. The lump on his side was a lipoma, a benign fatty tumour. The lump on his ear was a mast cell tumour, but the pathologist expected the surgery to be curative.
Mojo has also played a part in saving the lives of other cats. He has been a blood donor.
He is a great stress relief, and is usually up for a good cuddle. Look for him ‘greeting’ in the reception area or lounging in the prep room the next time you come for a visit.
